Sun, Sand & Coastal Creatures

We maintain that our beautiful beaches are some of the best places to be during the summer holidays. We met just over 1,000 of you and members of the public during our Coastal Creatures summer events. In just six weeks we ran or helped at 17 events where we: created Coastal Creatures out of sand; searched for rockpool animals to look at under field microscopes; had our heads in the sand searching for not so elusive nurdles; traversed the rocky shore searching for seaweeds; removed marine litter from our incredible coastline and much much more…

We’ve been overwhelmed by the amount of volunteers wanting to help out on with our project and we’ve been delighted to offer long and short term work experience placement to university, college and school students and those wanting to gain experience in the sector. Their help running these events has been most appreciated and we could have done it without them and our project partners: the National Trust, Coastwise North Devon and Northam Burrows Country Park.

Now the schools are back we are looking forward to upcoming events, notably including our 24-hour BioBlitz in partnership with Coastwise and the Marine Biological Association. Further information and registration.
