The North Devon Coast AONB Coastal Creatures project in partnership with Coastwise North Devon and the Marine Biological Association is excited to be running a 24 hour BioBlitz this 22nd and 23rd September at Lee Bay, near Ilfracombe, in North Devon.
Lee Bay is set into a valley with abundant flora and fauna in woodlands, streams, rocky shore and cliffs which serves as an excellent look out point for marine megafauna. As Lee Bay is tucked into a little nook on the North Devon coast we will be using the village hall as our base which is a 10 minute walk down to one of the most diverse rocky shores in the AONB. Free parking and camping will be available nearby to all those participating in the BioBlitz as well as a hearty evening meal & breakfast rolls. Coastal Creatures and the Lee BioBlitz is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. More information about Lee Bay can be found here: www.leebay.co.uk
The BioBlitz will be open to school groups from 10:30am on Friday 22nd September and then open to the public at 1pm to everyone. The BioBlitz will finish at around 3:30pm on Saturday 23rd.
We would be delighted if you would like to join us for this exciting event
